Icelandic Worsted/Aran - Grey

$20.00

100% Iceland Wool - Single ply

Approximately 150 yards/5 oz.

Our Home Grown yarn is produced from high quality fleeces. Each skein is unique and no two are exactly alike. Our Home Grown yarn is processed by a small family owned wool mill located in Pennsylvania. These yarns are available in limited quantities and once they are gone, there is no more. Sheep fleeces can change from year to year so we can not guarantee that next year’s batch will look the same.

This yarn is available to ship immediately. However, if you purchase anything from our Hand Dyed section, it may take up to 7-10 business days before your order ships. We will do our best to get your order shipped to you as quickly as possible.

Although each skein has been washed and rinsed multiple times, you might find a bit of vegetable matter. These small bits of hay or grass are few and far between and easily removed. Just think of it as a reminder that your yarn used to be a. sheep’s coat last year.

We do our best to photograph our yarn in natural light, but some computers or phones display color differently. If you have any questions about color, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

The additional photos are of the sheep that produced this yarn. Joanne’s and Ash’s fleeces were combined to produce this dark grey yarn. The wool of Icelandic sheep is unique because it is made up of two types of hair. The outer layer is long and coarse while the inner layer is short and soft. These are spun together to create Lopi yarn (a single ply). We shear our Icelandic sheep twice a year because their fleece grows so quickly.
